Been a While.

Hello there. Yes, I know it has been a while since I have updated, and I am sorry about that. Anyway, while I was gone I did read some good books, and I am going to talk about them in a series of blog updates. The first book I am going to tell you all about is the book Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway. Audrey, Wait! is about a girl named Audrey who becomes famous thanks to her ex-boyfriend, because of the song he wrote about her breaking up with him. Yes, the ex- boyfriend is in a band called the Do-Gooders, and you will never forget it. Audrey has to learn how to deal with being famous because of the song, and she learns who she can and cannot trust. Music, relationships, and the drama of being a teenager is present in the amazing book Audrey, Wait! When I first started reading this book, I was a little apprehensive. I thought it would be a shallow story, but it was not. I was surprised by the plot line, and I can honestly say i enjoyed reading Audrey, Wait!. If you are looking for a quick, good read, Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway is the way to go.

Jack Hinson's One-man War

The other day my U.S. History teacher told me that I needed to read the book Jack Hinson's One-man War, and I did. I love Civil War books, and this one was a great one! Jack Hinson was became a terror against the Union Army, after they killed two of his sons. He was able to kill men with a single shot, and not get caught. It was amazing to read about how he was able to evade capture, and yet get revenge for his son's murders. I would go into more detail, but honestly you really just should read the book. Tom C. McKenney did an awesome job writing and recounting Jack Hinson's life. If you like Civil War books; then I highly recommend you read it! Also thanks to Mr. Joyner for telling me about the book!

Girl in the Arena

I recently read the book Girl in the Arena by Lise Haines. All in all it was a pretty good book, but I hated sme things about the characters. I hated the character Allison. I thought she was a self-centered pain. I also hated the way she treated the character Lyn. I wanted to slap Allison. I also hated the name Uber. I mean, seriously, who names a character Uber?! I liked the plot though, and I was so happy when Allison finally got what she deserved. It made me smile. Even with those flaws, I liked the book and can not wait for a sequel.

Hangman's Curse

One of my favortie books of all time is Hangman's Curse by Frank E. Peretti. Hangman's Curse really makes teenagers think about how "clicks" in highschool really affect the students. In this book, a group of goths are picked on by the popular kids. The popular kids literally make the goth's lives a waking nightmare. Well the gothic teens, decide to get revenge, and have the upper hand for once. They take the legend of Abel Frye, a student who hung himself at the highschool and gets revenge for those who call on him, and make it reality. The kids who picked on the goths start getting sick and are on their death beds. Desperately, the school's principal calls in the Veritas Project. They are a family whose mission is to simply uncover the truth. What is the truth? Read Hangman's Curse and find out! Hangman's Curse is also an excellent movie which follows the book better than most movies do. I love this book, and read it again and again. I find it so intriguing how people could really be this cruel to people; simply because they do not dress the same way as them. It makes you think about how badly society judges people who dare to be different.

If I Stay

I recently just finished the book If I Stay by Gayle Forman. This book truly made me open my eyes to the fact that every decision we make impacts everyone. In If I Stay everything in Mia's life was going perfectly. A nice boyfriend, a talent for the chello, and an amazing family. Her toughest choice then was if she should go to Julliard should she be accepted. Then one day everything changed with one mistake. All of Mia's choices, except for one, are ripped away from her. Should she go with what is right or what is easy? If I Stay was a book that emotionally moved me. I absolutely loved it, and I highly recommend it to teenagers and adults alike. Gayle Forman wrote an entertaining, yet emotional story. The story line kept me hooked the whole time, and I can not wait for the movie since the book has such a hold over me.

Meridian.

This past week I just finished reading the book Meridian by Amber Kizer. This is the first book by her that I have read, and I would love to read more. I was entranced from the very beginning. Meridian is about a teenage girl named Meridian, that has felt out of place her whole life. Ever since she was born, her life revolved around death, because dead animals always appeared around her. She thought she was just a freak, until the day of her 16th birthday. On that day a car crash occurs in front of her house, and she feels excessive pain. Next thing she knows, she is living at her Aunt's house, along with a boy named Tens. While there, she learns that she is an extrordinary being, and why death always surrounds her. During this, Meridian and Tens also develop an interesting relationship, and Meridian learns that her and Tens have a profound connection. All that Meridian learns comes down to the ultimate battle of light versus dark. Which will win? Read Meridian by Amber Kizer to find out!
